As unfair/unforgiving as from software titles can be, the ability to kill the boss and get their drop while also dying yourself is rarely seen in other games and surprisingly merciful compared to the rest of the souls experience.

I must have been 9 - 10 years old when this came out. I had it on the Genesis and remember finishing it on the first day (on normal difficulty). Aside from the second level and the last, I don't remember it being that hard. 30 years on and I'm told that people found it difficult? But it's still a great game. I also remember playing Aladin on the Genesis (my first Genesis game).

Litterally, was stuck on renalla for hours. I'm a strength build, and it just felt like there were no openings. I swapped to a finger print shield build per my friend's recommendation and it has made so much of the stuff I've run into so much more manageable. For my reaction time and skill level at least, it kinda feels like pure strength build is waaaaaaaay less viable here than in the base game.

Is it possible to make ROM hacks of this game? Do some already exist? If not, someone should fix the game and make it actually fun.

Yeah fromsoft went full tilt stupid with boss difficulty in this dlc. Its not as much the movesets as much as it is the power and multiple ways to one shot. Never giving the player time to learn and adapt. Its like their motto was "constant pressure " designing these bosses.

Every time either you or Bald Bull 2 get up, you can buffer a stomach punch and get a star every time. I think it might work at the start of the second and third rounds as well, but definitely not in the first round.

With how _legendarily_ difficult that game is (to put it in perspective: it's one of the _exceedingly_ few games that Nintendo of America looked at - and keep in mind, it's approved undisputed garbage like TMNT, Ghostbusters, Silver Surfer, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde - and said "No, we're not doing that."), it's the _perfect_ candidate for a DtD deep dive.

I agree scroll farming offsets a great deal of the difficulty of this game. I did this when I was a kid. I'd generally load up Raph and Mikey with Scrolls since their base weapons weren't that good. This gives them far more value as scroll mules. I'd put boomerangs on Leonardo and let Donnie use whatever random ninja stars I found as his subweapon wasn't that important. Scrolls don't protect you from the instant death traps, but you can lay out any enemies with no trouble. Alot of the jumps you want to barely tap the jump button to do a hop. Between walking over the gaps and hops you can move thru the sewer lvls quickly of the 3rd area especially. From Stage 3 onward, there's always spot to recover a lost turtle. If you know you're going lose one(such as falling into a fire pit), let be mike or raph if they aren't full of scrolls. Leo is your next most expendable turtle, then Donnie is the guy you want to keep alive. The 4th Boss, you want to use the pause Trick on him. It glitches his mouth open, even those it's not, and he dies even faster. Just pause once his mouth is fully opened, and keep hitting him. Ultimately Donnie just killed him if you stand in the middle either way, but this speeds it up. The Rocksoldiers (the jetpack) guys are by far the worst enemies in the game. The hall before shredder is where scrolls really pay off to have horded them. The turtles have a hidden stat. When they are at low health, they get a damage buff. Mikey and Raph get the largest bonus from this. Ultimately I'd rather not run around at death's door, but this can make a difference if you're fighting enemies who take more damage.

I still think the Donkey Kong Country 1 is the best game of all time.
